For Women, When They Are Low

If we listen, opened wide, there is music in the tide, there are tones beneath the tones, there are dreams within our bones, there are riddles in the earth, incantations for rebirth, there are omens in the air, sending answers to that prayer we keep silent in our heart, if we’ll only choose to start. Only choose to sing our story, ease the world of crushing worry, love is energy and light, and the source that fuels sight, go within and share without, bravely shout our needed shout: we are here, we are here, and astonishingly now, to connect some holy how, to create, again and more, from the magic at our core, what was always meant to be, what was always there to see—we are artists meant to fashion an existence of compassion, here to heal and cradle pain into fire once again, we’re alive and we flower, joyful anger is our power, we will rise, we will grow, balance stillness with our flow, and we’ll listen, opened wide, to the music in the tide, hear the tones beneath the tones, and the dreams within our bones. Intuition sent its note: synchronicity, it wrote, is awareness of the real and the truth it can conceal. Spirit whispers on the wing that the world’s a changing thing and the new calls to the new: who we are is what we do. There are riddles in the earth, incantations for rebirth, there are omens in the air, sending answers to that prayer we keep silent in our heart, if we’ll only choose to start. Go within and share without, let us shout our needed shout: We are here, we are here, and astonishingly now, to connect some holy how, to create, again and more, from the magic at our core, what was always meant to be.

  1. I love this … beautiful, tender… and yet terrifying in some way.. holding us responsible to move beyond head and heart into action: Who we are is what we do.. jolted me!!

    1. Ah! It’s so interesting to read responses and learn so much more about my writing! Thank you for your engagement with my words and honest critique: I feel blessed.

Didn’t intend to terrify, but I guess maybe I find the times so potentially (and in some ways, actually and acutely) terrifying, that an invitation to acknowledge this could hasten and refine, or further support our response!

Thank you for your great kindness. Peace to your heart. XO

  2. Kitty, I feel you have written this for me, although no doubt it is far beyond my wishful thinking. Haha. So, so beautiful. It’s been a challenging few months here, and just now am I starting to revive my creative voice, to shout what I find and do and hear. And read from those who walk this path alongside.
You are an inspiration. Never give up sharing your heart and soul.

    1. Ah, Jeanne, I am so grateful for your comments and our virtual friendship! I’m sorry for your challenging times…I know how enriching such periods can prove when we look back at them, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t cause pain or exact loss. Hard times have visited me as well this spring and summer…kind of whack-a-mole of health issues, but—once again—I think they’re managed and I can resume creating more joyfully. It’s harder with this incessant Covid to say, “Well that was hard, but it’s over, and on we go.” And the darn political bs just won’t give it a rest or transform, either. All very wearing, but I do feel shifts. And I think it’s a time for the strong feminine archetypes—in all of us—to power us through and create the needed “new ways of being.” So I’m very grateful this piece spoke to your heart and energy, too! The world so needs your many gifts. 💕

      1. Well, Kitty, I – and clearly, you – can’t wait to be looking at back at them. I hope your myriad challenges are on the way to resolution, too. And you’re right – maybe we’re more informed and brave about it these days, but Covid is still lurking about. The heat has been horrible, and it affects our well-being on every level. And the politics … I am sometimes so ashamed that so many people in this country are so inhumane and unsympathetic (while claiming themselves “better.”)
If you have the chance, Kitty, read “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous.” One of the most moving books I’ve ever read. And an inspiration to overcome whatever we face. What a strong and beautiful spirit is Ocean Vuong.
Thanks for saying the world needs my gifts. That means a lot. 😘

  3. You are indeed an inspiration! How wonderful it is to have you in this world spreading your wisdom. This writing is genius, just beautiful as are the photos. Loving that plant growing in the hole in the tree, how well it illustrates your poignant words. Love and hugs to all.xxxx

  4. Thank you for your kindness, dear Snowbird! But, haha, you should have seen me and my great wisdom dancing and screeching after I upset a paper wasp nest beneath the deck where my houseplants have been visited by a raccoon. I was hosing off the deck and, apparently, flooding the wasp nest. They exacted due revenge. Yikes.

I am glad, though, that you enjoyed this writing; that soothes my stung legs greatly. 💛
